  21. There's no reason why "MUI icons" should have to use the stupid rotten
  22. horrible MagicWB pen scheme.  But yes, I do get a few programs that *only*
  23. come with MagicWB icons.  And those programs have to be *REALLY* good for
  24. me to keep them, after that initial letdown ("oh fuck, another programmer
  25. who doesn't realize that not everyone likes MagicWB").

  30. The obvious "bad thing" is that it uses four pens!  If you're running in
  31. 256 (or 128, or perhaps 64) colours, that's not necessarily a problem.  But
  32. if you're running Workbench with 32 colours or less (like many people would
  33. if they're running in a DBL mode, Multiscan, or Super72... or if they're
  34. stuck with ECS/OCS), losing four of your precious pens FOR NO REAL REASON
  35. EXCEPT SOME OTHER PEOPLE'S STUPIDITY can be painful.

  37. There's also a pretty good reason not to use NewIcons:  It's *S-L-O-W*!! 
  38. Even on a 68040, the bigger icon files, the decompression, the pen
  39. allocation and the rendering slows down opening windows
  40. e-n-o-r-m-o-u-s-l-y.  Not to *mention* what it feels like on a slower
  41. machine.

  43. But okay, on a 68060+CV64 Amiga, I guess I can agree that "there's no
  44. reason not to use lockcolours and Newicons".  Problem is, there are only a
  45. few hundred Amigas like that in the entire world... :-)
